At least 15 people have died of a horrific unexplained disease that causes patients to vomit blood, and more than 50 other patients have been hospitalised in Tanzania according to the news.
Some of the patients, mainly males, died in the southern region of Mbeya, the Sun said, within hours of developing symptoms.
A team of specialists was deployed to evaluate the patients and investigate the cause of their disease by Felista Kisandu, the local Chief Medical Officer.
Kisandu said, “This problem wasn’t normal. “It happened in just one administrative station in Ifumbo where people vomit blood and die late when they arrive in the hospital.”
She said their cause was not known yet, but according to the outlet, the Tanzanian Ministry of Health “has rejected an outbreak.”
“Patients who suffered from stomach ulcers and liver diseases, in the majority of cases, had initial clinical examinations,” said Kisandu. “We advised them not to use illicit brawls, cigarettes and other tough drinks.”
Authorities were checking for signs of mercury contamination in water samples and blood in patients.
Meanwhile, Tanzania Minister of Health, Dorothy Gwajika, after making a statement, ordered the suspension of Kisandu.
“For creating unnecessary panic among residents, I order Dr. Felista Kisandu’s employer to suspend her to pave way for investigations by the Medical Council and submit the report to me within 10 days,” Gwajika said.
Government officials reported like symptoms in the region when people in 2018, according to the Sun, had been suffering from high fever and nausea and vomiting blood.
The news comes around a month after the COVID-19 allegations by President John Magufuli, by the force of prayer, was prevented.
He said Jan 9 six weeks after the government stopped publicly updating virus data. “Corona is removed from God’s powers in our land,” he said.
For six weeks, the number of cases remained 509, while figures from the opposition suggested the real figures could be ten thousand.
To combat the death, the population was urged to eat the herbal cures the deadly bug by boosting the immunity.
