Just hours later, a resident of California who was vaccinated against COVID-19 died, and officials are trying to figure out why.
In a Facebook post Saturday, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death and the investigation, but gave few specifics.
The county, which is in the greater Sacramento area, has been “recently notified” of the death of the man, the police said.
In December, the person had tested positive for coronavirus and had been vaccinated just hours before their deaths on Jan. 21.
There was no indication of which vaccine had been given to the person.
This case is being actively investigated by numerous local, state and federal agencies; any findings about the cause of death are premature, pending the results of the investigation. Our thoughts are with the deceased family,’ wrote the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office told CBS’ Sacramento affiliate that an autopsy will be performed on Monday.
