After Britney Spears announced her engagement to Sam Asghari, Octavia Spencer allegedly wasted no time in telling her that she should get a prenuptial agreement.
According to screenshots circulating on social media, the Oscar winner, 51, commented on Spears’ Instagram post Sunday, “Make him sign a prenup.”
Page Six was unable to verify the screenshots’ authenticity, and the comment appears to have been removed.
Spencer’s representative did not respond to our request for comment right away.
Given that Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, has been accused of mismanaging the pop star’s funds during her 13-year conservatorship, the majority of Spears’ fans appeared to support Spencer’s alleged comment.
“Octavia Spencer removed the comment but tbh were all thinking it,” one person tweeted. “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE HIM SIGN AN IROM CLAD PRENUP.”
“Octavia Spencer looking out for her too,” another fan wrote, referring to Britney’s second marriage to Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two sons. I’m not going to let another federline happen.”
A third commented, “She’s right tho love is fickle and Britney done suffered to get all her property in her hands. the thought of her ever losing part of it to someone else is honestly just so nauseating.”
Given the financial issues the “Lucky” singer, 39, has dealt with as a result of her conservatorship, one person suggested Britney and her attorney, Mathew Rosengart, may have already considered a prenuptial agreement.
“Why is everyone acting like she hasn’t thought of this?” the fan tweeted. “She spent the past 13 years in a legal fight for her rights and still pays alimony to Kfed. I’m sure she knows what a prenup is at this point, and that Rosengart will advise her on protecting her assets.”
Asghari, 27, proposed to Britney at her home on Sunday with a ring that features a 4-carat round brilliant stone in a platinum cathedral setting with a floating solitaire design.
He is an Iranian-born actor and personal trainer who has appeared in Showtime’s “Black Monday,” HBO Max’s “Hacks,” and BET’s “The Family Business.”
Late in 2016, Britney and Asghari began dating. They met on the set of her music video “Slumber Party,” in which Asghari played her love interest.
Both have recently expressed their desire to take their relationship to the next level.
The “Stronger” singer told the court on June 23 that she wanted to marry her boyfriend and start a family, but the conservatorship wouldn’t allow it. Asghari has stated that all he wants from Britney is a “normal” future.
