Matt Wolniewicz has been appointed president of Income America, less than five months after leaving his position as president of Fi360. This new position places the seasoned veteran at the helm of the newly launched retirement income solutions provider, emphasizing the company’s commitment to the retirement plan channel and providing creative solutions to empower investors’ financial well-being.
Income America is backed by a group of companies that includes American Century Investments, Lincoln Financial Group, Nationwide, SS&C Technologies, Wilmington Trust, Wilshire Associates, and Prime Capital Investment Advisors, to name a few (PCIA). These companies realized that they needed to pool their capital in order to make faster progress in the retirement income space. Wolniewicz will be in charge of putting these partners’ mutual vision into action, as well as overseeing Income America’s strategic development.
The team is lucky to have Matt at the helm, says Jonathan Thomas, president and CEO of consortium member American Century Investments. “Matt possesses an impressive background in our industry, and at the same time, a forward looking perspective that will not only guide Income America to success, but help the consortium create solutions that modernize the future of retirement planning,” Thomas says.
Income America 5ForLife will be available in April as a multi-managed, multi-insured target-date fund with 3(38) and 3(21) fiduciary security. Beginning at age 65, the product also promises a 5% annual return, protecting against market volatility during retirement. “We believe our solution, Income America 5ForLife, fills a massive industry void by offering portable fiduciary products for investors as they search for sustainable retirement income,” explains Wolniewicz.
Throughout his 25-year career working with advisors and retirement plans, Wolniewicz has been motivated by a fundamental desire to provide solutions that eventually help investors retire with confidence, including serving as head of sales, global advisor and wealth solutions for Morningstar and later as president of Fi360. Wolniewicz’s commitment to supporting advisors has been influenced by his previous positions.
Wolniewicz’s professional values have been influenced by corporate missions that aimed to assist financial intermediaries and organizations in profitably gathering, growing, and protecting investor assets through responsible fiduciary practices. His promotion to president solidifies his commitment to guiding advisors and advocating for tools that enable professionals to surpass client standards.
“Between Income America 5ForLife’s mission to provide novel solutions and the unprecedented alignment of leading companies joining this effort, it’s a great honor to lead Income America,” explains Wolniewicz. “We are inspired to provide transformational, fiduciary-guided products that will truly benefit the community of financial professionals and their end clients.”
The Lifetime Income Symposium will be held on April 8 as part of Income America’s goal to provide thought leadership in the area of lifetime income in retirement plans. The interactive, virtual event will provide an industry update on the legal and regulatory climate, as well as how guaranteed income in plans meets a participant need.
