In Manhattan Supreme Court, the 33-year-old “Juno” actress, who recently came out as transgender, applied for a contested divorce Tuesday.
Portner, 26, a talented dancer and choreographer, endorsed the decision of Page publicly, saying that she was “so proud.”
“Trans, queer and non-binary individuals are a gift to this globe,” Portner said in a Dec. 1 Instagram post. I also request patience & secrecy, but every day you join me in the fervent support of trans life. In and of itself, Elliot’s life is a blessing. Glow on nice E. You love yourself so much.”
The divorce comes just three years after January 2018, when the couple married.
Emma made a public plea for ‘patience and privacy’ before deleting her account entirely, and explained that her own ‘gender identity, pronouns, and sexuality’ are ‘private and not up for discussion.’
In a statement posted on their Instagram account on December 20, Elliot last addressed the public when the actor thanked her fans for their support for their decision to come out.
‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart,’ Elliot wrote, posing in a black hoodie and wire-framed glasses while sharing a picture of himself.
‘Your love was the greatest gift, and your encouragement. Just stay safe. For each other, be there.’
Since 2020, neither Elliot nor Emma have been publicly seen together, but Emma made her feelings clear about the decision of her partner to come out when she shared a message of support on her own social media account, just as Elliot posted his news.
She wrote in the post:’ I am so proud of @elliotpage. To this culture, trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift.
