The sequel to James Cameron’s Avatar was given a title at CinemaCon, and the trailer for “Avatar: The Way of Water” was also shown. The 3D teaser revealed several locations of Pandora, which is an Earth-like extrasolar zone of gas giant Polyphemus that is habitable in the film. Pandora was also featured in the 2009 film Avatar.
In the trailer, Na’vi are seen interacting with aquatic animals like whales. “With the first Avatar, we set out to push the limits of the big screen. With the new Avatar films, we’re pushing those limits even farther, with 3D, with high dynamic range, with high frame rate, higher resolution, and a much greater reality in our visual effects.” The first edition of the Avatar franchise was both a commercial and critical triumph.
Instead of aliens invading Earth, one of the highest-grossing films showed humanity invading Pandora, a region inhabited by Na’vi, who are environment-loving and peaceful creatures with blue bodies and lovely catlike eyes. Humans invade Pandora in order to mine the soil, which is rich in a valuable mineral known as Unobtanium. Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, Sam Worthington, and Stephen Lang were among the cast members, and they will all return in the sequel.
This year’s Avatar: The Way of Water will be released in theatres on December 16th. The cast of the Avatar franchise will include Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Oona Chaplin, Michelle Yeoh, CJ Jones, and more.
