It has been confirmed by the US Capitol Police that one of their officials has passed on because of the injuries caused during riots at the Capitol.
USCP Officer Brian D. Sicknick was harmed because of the physical contact with protesters. He got back to his division office and then collapsed due to the pain and injuries. Later he was taken to a neighborhood hospital and put in a coma but he couldn’t survive and later died.
In a statement, the US Capitol Police said Officer Sicknick’s death will be treated as a crime investigation.
“Official Sicknick joined the USCP in July 2008, and most as of late served in the Department’s First Responder’s Unit,” the unit said in a statement.
“The entire USCP Department expresses its deepest sympathies to Officer Sicknick’s family and friends on their loss, and mourns the loss of a friend and colleague.
“We ask that Officer Sicknick’s family, and other USCP officials’ and their families’ security be regarded during this time.”
It was accounted for before that the official has passed on toward the beginning of today, which Capitol Police denied.
It is confirmed by the DC Metropolitan Police that 14 officials were harmed in the riots, including one who was seriously injured when he was pulled into a group and attacked.
The death comes as the head of the Capitol Police tendered his resignation.
